The Future is the Past: Twittertape

pt_802 Via the BBC: Web developer Adam Vaughan has created a post-modern “tickertape” machine that prints tweets. He said he built it from scratch, using salvaged parts. The actual printing is done inside a hidden base using a thermal printer and micro-controller.

He said that when he ran his idea past friends and family, it. Now, however, he’s “surprised” at the popularity of his invention, especially among the steampunk contingent.

Why am I posting this? As an affirmation of the importance of the printed word, and its superiority over fleeting digital media? Yes, that. And also because it’s just cool.
