Drat! This is what happens when I let my inbox get full; I can’t get to everything in time…
Last week, Sept. 19 to be precise, was the 75th anniversary of the publication of J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic, “The Hobbit.” According to The Guardian, schools across the UK broke for “second breakfasts” at 11 a.m. in honor of the hobbit tradition.
“The Hobbit” is one of my all-time favorite pieces of literature; I ended up reading the entire LOTR trilogy and “The Silmarillion” in junior high school. Being short, round, and possessing rather furry feet, I’ve always fancied a bit of hobbit blood in my ancestry.
And, when it comes out in December, I’ll be right in line to see Peter Jackson’s film adaptation! (The Guardian has a trailer here).
